Dr. Andy Cruz, DCChiropractic Physician and Clinic DirectorI take great pleasure in assisting others through chiropractic! Your trust and confidence is well placed with me. My personal and professional experiences have created an approach to health and healing that acknowledges a respectful connection between one’s mind, body and spirit. I believe healthy living involves attention to all three areas. In addition to gathering information about you and your experiences, I draw heavily from the physical evaluation of the human body. I try to make sense of muscle patterns, muscle symmetry or asymmetry. My evaluations often involve not only an observation of the spine and its muscles, but also of the extremities, the cranium, the jaw and the feet. My understanding of your condition (or complaints) begins with the physical body. When I first meet you, we will discuss your chief complaint as well as past problems. The exam that follows will include neurological as well as orthopedic evaluation. I pay specific attention to muscle balance, muscle patterns, as well as neurological functioning. Findings gathered during examination are cross-referenced to information taken from you: such as lifestyle, symptoms, diet, stress levels, etc. to create a more complete picture of your health concerns. This process leads to a diagnosis and a treatment regime. My approach to therapy is evidence-based chiropractic. How I work with any individual is based on their individual needs and capabilities. If I find no contraindications for chiropractic in your history or exam, we may decide to use either manual or low-force adjusting. I also draw on therapeutic technologies such as electrical muscle stimulation and ultrasound, therapeutic exercise, and massage. Many patients have described my technique as “gentle relief”. I graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in 1999. In that same year I passed my state and national licensing exams. My undergraduate degree is in Molecular Biology from Humboldt State University. I have developed professionally over the years by taking courses through various credentialed programs/schools. For example I took over eighty hours of training at The Carrick Institute of Neurology. I’ve studied with the Upledger Institute for Craniosacral Therapy. I studied yoga and underwent teacher training with the Kundalini Research Institute. These disciplines have strengthened my conviction that the body benefits from a holistic approach to healing and therapy. Patients involved in acute-trauma injuries, sports injuries, as well as chronic pain have sought my care. Specific complaints that I have treated include headache, carpal tunnel syndrome, jaw pain/TMJ dysfunction, foot pain, shoulder problems, Fibromyalgia, as well as common neck and back pain. I look forward to helping you, and each of my patients, heal and learn more about their recovery.
