I am a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist. I graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and have been practicing as a primary care provider. I completed my bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University, where I studied psychology and biochemistry. As a student, I worked for a research group where we studied the many adverse effects of stress on the body. I have always been motivated to ease the pain and discomfort of others, and I am so grateful my journey has led me to Naturopathic and Chinese medicine. I love integrating the ancient wisdom of these traditions with the innovation of modern science. I feel blessed for the opportunity to witness the divine intelligence of nature, and to practice my craft with an intention to relieve suffering.
I grew up in Dallas, Texas, with a big family and a big appetite for meat and potatoes. My mother, who prepared our food growing up, was adamant about a “colorful plate”. So I was lucky to be raised in a home with nutritious meals. That said, when I moved to Portland, I was exposed to a new realm of healthy living. I can relate to how overwhelming gluten-free, paleo, organic, non-GMO, and grass fed foods can be. My first real hike was in the Columbia Gorge. I hadn’t been on a bicycle since I was 12years old and I never practiced yoga, meditation or qi gong until I moved to the Pacific Northwest. I am still, everyday, making changes to my routine to incorporate more nourishing choices. And I completely empathize with the attachment to our habits and vices. I feel my personal experience allows me to be more practical and encouraging when helping others work towards cultivating a healthier lifestyle.
My ultimate goal is to help my patients identify their personal obstacles to healing, and to construct creative, individualized plans to overcome these hurdles. I use Western and Eastern botanicals, therapeutic doses of nutritional supplements, acupuncture, and physical medicine to support the body’s natural healing process, while we work on healthy lifestyle changes. I am a student at heart, and find myself constantly researching new approaches and therapies to promote wellness. I am motivated to continue learning and evolving personally and professionally, so I can better serve and empower my community.
I am licensed in the state of Oregon as a primary care provider. I offer routine annual exams, various laboratory testing and, in addition to high quality botanical and nutritional supplements, prescribe pharmaceutical medications when appropriate. This allows me a wide variety of testing and treatment options, and the ability to consider the many possibilities of therapeutic interventions. In my practice, I help patients with various digestive complaints, hormone imbalances, chronic and acute infections, allergies, fatigue and stress related issues, mental-emotional discomfort, neurotransmitter support, autoimmune disorders and musculoskeletal pain.
I also find time to relax in the sun, peruse local farmers markets, bike around the city, walk through the woods, prepare nutritious meals, and spend time with family and friends.
